Gutuyevsky island located in the southwestern part of the delta of the Neva River, bordering the rivers Neva and Yekateringofka and Ol'khovka. Area of 320 ha, length 3,8 km, width 1,2 km.
The island, now called Gutuevsky, changed many names. The Finns called him Vitsasaari ie Prutovykh or shrubs ("Wits" in Finnish - twig, vine, "Saari" - the island). On the plan of St. Petersburg in 1716, this island is named Unpopulated; on the plan of St. Petersburg in 1717, published in France, the island is designated under the name of St. Catherine. Later we find other names: Round, Seaside, and then Novosil'tsov - by the name of its former owner, a wealthy lieutenant Novosil'tsev.
In the middle of the XVIII century the island was bought from a merchant-Novosil'tsev Olonets shipbuilder Guttuevym Kononov, who was later Rathmann (advisor), Department of Civil Affairs of the city council. From the surname of the former owner of the island and received its present name.
In 1874-85 the configuration of the island changed during the construction of a new seaport and construction of Naval channel. In the 1960's. as a result of filling a number of watercourses in attached Islands B.Rezvy, Vol'ny, Gladky.
