Mullaghfad Parish Church, County Fermanagh (1836)
Mullaghfad church is located in a very remote area. High up in the hills and forests between County Monaghan and County Fermanagh. It baffles me why a church is located here as there isn't a house around for miles in any direction.
In 1921a 12-man patrol of the Special Constabulary was ambushed at Mullaghfad Cross, Co. Fermanagh (between Fivemiletown and the Monaghan border) resulting in the death of the two special constables (S/Constable Robert Coulter and S/Constable James Hall). They are both buried here. This church is only used now during April, May, September and October, and even then only occasionally. It is in a very run down state
To this day there is still no electricity in this church.
