The Sherman Tank on the Langenberg road along the Arnhemseweg road reminds the residents of Ede to the liberation of the village on 17 April 1945 by the Calgary Regiment of the First Canadian Tank Brigade. This brigade was part of the British Polar Bear Division. As a location for the memorial was chosen for the Langenberg, as the liberators entered Ede on this place.
The monument was unveiled on May 5, 1990 by Mayor W. Blanken and two Canadian veterans, J. Davies and R.J. Maltby. The reason for creation was the 45th anniversary of the liberation.
