arts centre, community centre / hall, historical building
Located in beautiful surrounds in front of Juniper Gardens, the Midland Junction Arts Centre is conveniently located next to the Dome Cafe and The Prinicpal on Great Eastern Highway, Midland with plenty of free parking and wheelchair access available.
The newly refurbished venue features three generous gallery spaces, an intimate 100 seat auditorium, a leafy courtyard as well as rehearsal and printing studios. Looking very different today, the arts centre is a far cry from its humble beginnings as the Midland Junction Technical School in 1904. In 1909, the school extended its curriculum to include art classes - marking a hundred year tradition of community involvement in art!. The building has also housed a TAFE, primary school, and most recently the Australian Opera Studio, before being leased from the Midland Redevelopment Authority by the City of Swan for creation of the arts centre.

HISTORY-Old Midland Junction School
A group of red brick buildings: comprising the former Midland Junction State School, former Teachers Quarters and the former Infants School. The buildings feature steeply corrugated iron roofs, high chimneys and timber framed windows. The place's significance is reinforced by the excellent condition and prominent location. It is one of few examples of its type of Federation Free style architecture in the State. Constructed in response to the influx of workers to Midland at the turn of the 20th century, the buildings are an important part of Midland's history.
