Daeseongsan, or Daeseong Mountain), is 593 m/1,946 ft at the highest point.

Jeongchwiam (hermitage) was established in 686CE by great master Uisangdaesa during the reign of King Shinmun on the slopes of Daeseongsan just north of Jirisan National Park.

Jeongchwiam is one of the Nine Scenic Views of Sancheong. Legend says that in 686CE Amitabha Buddha rose from East Sea and two beams of light shone, one on Geumgangsan and the other on Daeseongsan. Monk Uisangdaisa followed the beams of light and built Wontongam (hermitage) on Geumgangsan (mountain) and Jeongchwiam on Daeseongsan.
