Saturday, August 5, 1944 is entered as Black Saturday for Hoogeveen and surroundings and the Dutch Railways. History Until 5 August recorded the NS, the shelling of 247 locomotives and 24 electric trains, with 51 staff and 83 travelers were slain, respectively, 198 and 288 were injured. On that infamous August 5 went to a whopping 14 places wrong.
