Varde with a population of 12,579 (2008) is the main town and site of the municipal council of the municipality of the same name who is placed in Region Syddanmark on the west coast of the Jutland peninsula in southwest Denmark. Varde municipality have a population of 50,125 (2008)and a area of 1255,79 km2. Its mayor is Gylling Håhr, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party.
