Heavy sands are dredged up and processed on floating barges. The bulk of the sand is pumped to the back of the pool to fill in mined out areas. The heavy mineral concentrate, mostly rutile and Anatase is pumped ashore to be de-watered and trucked away. The operation has been active for nearly fifty years.
