This J.D.Wetherspoon type restaurant and pub was opened on Tuesday 12th November 2013.
The pub specialises in real ales, serving a wide range of beers, including those from local and regional brewers. There is also a beer garden with a designated area for smoking.
Charles Noel Newton was born in Oakham on 29th February 1884. He joined the army and during the First World War served in the Leicester Yeomanry with the rank of Captain, lately Major. He was also a councillor, a trustee of Oakham School and Rutland High Sheriff in the 1934. He lived in this building before he sold it to the Royal British Legion between 1948 to 1950.
This 19th century premises are grade II listed building.
