The Gouvernement is the name of the provincial government building of Limburg. It was build in 1986. The building houses the office of the governor (Dutch: Gouverneur), the provincial executive (Dutch: Gedeputeerde Staten) and the provincial legislature (Dutch: Limburgs Parlement).
In 1992 the treaty of Maastricht was signed here, that treaty created the European Union and led to the creation of the euro.
