In 1903, the floodgates are made. Initially, five pairs of doors are placed, three pairs ebony doors and two pairs of floodgates; later is a few doors away ebb. After the completion of the sluice gates of the old lock will be demolished; in 1904 allowed for the first time in the new sea lock chamber and the complex is fully tested for its thoroughness. About the locks are built around 1902-1903 in two swing bridges. On the channel side of the sea lock makes a brick ramp connecting to the new deepwater quay of the port, on the other side is a wooden pier built conductivity of 120 m. Length. In the First World War, a dredger, the "Willpower" sunk in the saskom of the lock; lock doors and brickwork are damaged, the electric drive mechanism to be disabled; clearance in 1919-1920. During World War II, two steam hoppers sunk into the lock chamber of the Demey lock, thus opening the floodgates prevented; both bridges over the lock will also be destroyed.
