The building was owned by Ali Imam (1869-1932), a former Prime Minister of Hyderabad Deccan.

Imam had played an important role when Bihar was separated from Bengal.

Imam’s fort of red brick stones, popularly referred to as the Imam Kothi, and his tomb in the capital reminds residents of a bygone era when the Muslim aristocrat had built a magnificent fort.

With some distinctive features like a number of square and rectangular arches this building definitely serves as a good example of architecture.
