After "coming down from the Mountains" (renouncing the deeply ascetic practices), Ssiddhartha Gotama waas offered food by the young woman Sujata who mistook him for a tree spirit (Yaksha) whom she worshipped in hopes of obtaining a suitable husband. It is from Uruvella that Siddhartha advanced across the Nairanjana (modern Phalgu), immediately to the west, and on to Bodh Gaya
