On this spot a hotel known as Mama's Palace was built after the First World War. Later was taken over by Sidney Marder who renamed it as Marder's Palace Hotel. In 1933-34 it was renamed Killarney Hotel - Marder's Palace. Much later it was just Palace Hotel.
