The church, dedicated to Saint Martin, is used by the Vändra Martin congregation of the Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church. The current Vändra stone church, located in the middle of the township, was built in 1787, with a tower added in 1841. It is the fourth Lutheran church in Vändra. The previous three wooden churches were located elsewhere and burned down.[1] The earliest mention of a church dedicated to Saint Martin dates back to 1624. The auxiliary church of Vändra Church was Tahkuranna Church.
