The General Douglas MacArthur Car

This car was especially built by General Motors of America for the late President Manuel L. Quezon. It arrived in the Philippines on November 4, 1937. In 1938, it was turned over to Gen. Douglas MacArthur who used it all throughout his tour of duty in the Philippines.

In 1976, General Motors Corporation (GMC) of Detroit, Michigan donated his car to the Philippine Government. Mr. Dan Irish of the Vintage Car Club of the Philippines undertook the restoration of this car.

The MacArthur car was featured, on several occasions, in different car shows like the Wheel Power in Makati in 1977. Since then, the car had been on display at Fort Santiago. In 1992, it was transferred to the national Library Compound in Manila. The car has undergone another restoration work in 2009.
