Former location for Piñatas Mexican restaurant until 2009, then Downtown Bar-B-Que Company until around 2011, now it is a restaurant that stirs controversy in the entire area because of the offensive word. Opened on Memorial Day, May 28, 2012 by former Iraq War Marine veterans Corporal Nick Velez and his friend/business partner Calvin Spencer. It was originated from "Magnificent Bastards," the official nickname of 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, where both friends served at Camp Pendleton in California. Despite the controversy, the restaurant features military-style decor, historic military photos, line walls painted in Marine colors of scarlet, grey and gold, and the beer is sold in ammunition-can ice buckets. Most of the employees there have military background. There are discounts for veterans and they are welcome to the restaurant and share war stories. This is true, this is not a made-up story!
