 police box  Add category

Introduced in the late 1920s, this telephone box was for use by both the police and the public. There is limited accommodation for use as a temporary cell, and a lamp on top that could be used to attract the attention of a passing police patrol. It was phased out in the mid-1960s, ... about the same time as passing police patrols were also phased out! -Geograph
