Once it was one of the largest and richest estates in the east of East Prussia.
The Parnehnen estate was founded in 1358 as Pernen. At first, the estate was owned by the Röder family, but in 1800 it was acquired by a member of the von der Goltz family to be taken over by Karl August Käswurm in 1830.
Karl August Käswurm owned the estate for 33 years. Over the years of owning vast lands, he managed to get the estate out of debt, including through sheep breeding.
On September 30, 1928 Parnehnen officially becomes Gutsbezirk (independent estate, zemstvo district). It is worth noting that in accordance with the Prussian local government legislation, the owner of such a Gutsbezirk is a Gutsvorsteher (zemstvo chief) and performs the functions of both the community meeting and the community foreman.
In 1939, the castle hosted the RAD women's camp (RAD-Lager).
On January 22, 1945, the last Prussian owners of the estate left it.
In 1946 Parnehen was renamed Krasny Yar.
In the postwar years, a school was located in the manor house.
After the war, the building housed a school, later there was a shop, recreation center, library and post office.
It is a 2-storey building with a basement and a superstructure. the cellars are vaulted and very beautiful. In many places, the floors are "folded". At the same time, as of March 2015, the task includes a library (abandoned in 2016) and a post office, which in no way interferes with inspecting the abandoned part.
When moving on the second floor on a wooden floor, be especially vigilant!
In some rooms, the remains of the ornamental decoration of the estate have been preserved.
