The main building is the South Siti Hinggil, facing to the Alun-alun Kidul (South Square). This building has been renovated in the year 1956 during the reign of Sultan Hamengkubuwono IX. The restoration carried out in order to commemorate 200th anniversary of the establishment of Yogyakarta Sultanate Palace, therefore the building called Sasana Hinggil Dwi Abad.
