The ZAR transmitter and receiver were separate, with the transmitter positioned just to the east of this location. The receiver would be located under a large radome. Later examples, like the one on Kwajalein Island, were surrounded by a large metal mesh mat held aloft by poles forming a flat ground plane. This site is too small to have had one, which suggests that the site near LSS-1 to the west was going to replace this site.
