most probably ancient infrastructure for near by granite quarries, in parts destroyed by floods, still preserved a water reservoir, surrounded by a protecting embarkment; a housing area and some kind of a main building, probably for the administration. Possibly from Roman times when they exploited the whole area, maybe used in later periods too.
