Yaksasa was built by monk Cheolgamseonsa Do Yun durring the Silla Era (57 BCE- 935 CE) sometime before Jeungsimsa was built in 517.
The temple was rebuilt in 1094 and 1865 and was burn down during the Korean War. The present halls and one piller gate were rebuilt again in 1984.
Treasures here are the Seokjo Yeorae Jwasang (Seated Granite Buddha - National Treasure # 600) and a three storied stone pagoda which dates back to the first half of the 9th century.
