The Okorusu Mine in Namibia, originally opened in 1986 by British entrepreneurs, produces top acid grade fluorspar. Since1998 it was operated by Okorusu Fluorspar (Pty) Ltd then sold in 1997 to Solvay SA. The deposit is part of an alkaline igneous-carbonatite ring dike complex where fluorite has replaced pegmatitic carbonatite.

  • By 2015 it was put on stand-by The highest grade ore is finished and a few people are left trying to find a way to process lower grade ore. A profitable side-line was in selling magnificent fluorspar specimens. Known for a green-blue color.
