Historic African American Baptist church listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).

Built: 1961
Architect: George Wilson
Expanded: 1984 (education wing)
Area: about 1 acre
Date added to NRHP: 4/22/2005
Notes: Built on the site of a Baptist church that had stood here since the 1880s. White city officials condemned the original structure in the late 1950s, a typical act of black suppression. In response, a new church was built in 1961. The church, both the old and the new, played an integral role in the Civil Rights Movement at the local level.
