The Regional Studies' Museum has been housed in this building since 1944. The work on establishing the museum was incited and headed by Boris Bruk in 1939.
The first director of the museum was Herschon Grinberg. In 1945–1949 it also excluded the Jewish culture resource room headed by the writer Ber Slutsky. The museum has collections created by the natural history scientist, ethnographer and traveler G. I. Radde (1831–1903), the head of Bilro-Bidzhan region expedition (1927) B. L. Bruk (1885-1979), the Arctic explorer G. A. Ushakov (1901–1963) and others.
