mine, gold mine

This is the Eastmain Gold Mine which is no longer in production and is part of the Eastmain Mine Property which is 100% owned by Eastmain Resources Inc. In 1969, Placer Dome Limited (“Placer”) discovered the Eastmain Gold Mine by intersecting the gold-silver-copper bearing A Zone while drill-testing an airborne geophysical conductor. Definition drilling by Placer in the 1980’s defined resources within the A and B zones along with additional gold intersections within the C Zone.
The mine is accessed by a ramp and there are 2 underground levels to the A & B Zones, and around 100,000 tonnes were mined between 1994-1995. Other infrastructure includes an Airstrip, fuel farm, mine camp, and tailings pond, and the mine is accessible by a permanent winter road which is the Plan Nord 167 extension.
