Lågemade Lighthouse is from 1896 and was originally a lens devise with a alcohol burner. In 1925 the lighthouse was made electric and the alcohol burner was replaced with a incandescent bulb. The lighthouse functions as a leading light along with Lågemade Back Lighthouse, which at first was simply a lamp stationed in a fenced mast. The back lighthouse is located 700 meters inland. The original mast was 16 meters tall and sent out a white light. The current one is 21 meters high and shows red light.
