The Avarayr Plain (Armenian: Ավարայրի Դաշտ) is the location of the Battle of Avarayr in 451, and is described as being along the banks of the Ṭłmut River (Armenian: Տղմուտ գետ) (Akchay river, Iran), apparently the Armeno-Persian frontier at that time.[1] At the time, the Avarayr plain was part of the Armenian region of Vaspurakan. The plain is located today in northwestern Iran close to the village of Chors near the border with Nakhichevan.

  • The name this place is Chaypara! and the river flowing here is Aghcahy not Zangemar! The Zangemar river is near the city of Maku, 80 kms northwest of this location. Again the extreme Armenian nationalism is lying! One that wrote this lies is not living here and certainly he or she never saw this place. Please stop the extreme nationalism.
  • Current (Turkish) name Chaypara is not excludes its former (historical) name Avarayr. Prominent Battle of Avarayr took place right at this plane. You (shahin) are both right and wrong. Zangimar is really 80km north to this area and called Maku now. And river flowing through this plane (Akchay at several maps) was called Tghmut in past. Wikipedia's geolocation for the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avarayr_Plain article is wrong, I hope it will be corrected soon. And I think that representing the reach historical past of Armenia to the world is a best way of resistance to all extreme nationalists around us and to people all over the world indifferent to continuing physical and cultural genocide against the Armenians continuing more than a century.
