Hidden in the uncultivated brush between cocoa groves there is a Grog factory. It’s common for the plantation workers to tend the cocoa in the morning, work their family vegetable gardens in the afternoon and fish until 10 pm or so. There is not much food so Palm Wine and Grog are used to fend off hunger. The Grog factory is really just a press that mashes the juice from sugarcane. Then juice is then aged and run through a primitive still. Grog is an intense version of água dente (water with teeth/bite). If you search for the secret water beware of the fire ants that vigilantly protect it.
