This Giant of the Bromiliad Family, to include orchids and pineapples, grows in a dangerously spiney form for 25 to 100 years to 3 to 4 meters then throws up a flower spike of up to 10 meters, releases millions of seeds, then dies.

One of the largest groupings of this plant and a spectacular view of the Huascaran Range to the East.
