This the ultimate claim boundary of the Separation Rapids project which is 100% owned by Avalon Rare Metals. The Separation Rapids property comprises ten mineral claims which total 90 claim units that cover an area of approximately 3600 acres (1455 ha). The BWP lease itself covers an area of 400.181 hectares over a term of 21 years with annual rental costs of $1,264 as of mid 2014.

The Separation Rapids property is host to one of the largest “Complex-type” rare metal pegmatite deposits in the world which is referred to as the “Big Whopper Pegmatite (“BWP”). It is most likely to date one the four examples of currently discovered deposits in the world which have a rare metal pegmatite that has the size required to be of major economic importance and potentially only one of a few yet discovered to be enriched in the rare lithium mineral called petalite.
