Former German and later US military installation since closed and redeveloped. During the Cold War this site was occupied by the US Army and housed logistical units that served other US Army installations in and around Stuttgart. There were also Military Intelligence units based at Grenadier for part of the Cold War period.

With the withdrawal of the US Army's VII Corps- headquartered in Stuttgart- after the end of the Cold War and German Reunification, the facility was no longer needed and returned to the German government. Almost all of the previous buildings were torn down excepting one- Building 406 which is occupied by German Police. Reconstruction created 237 housing units and was completed in 2006.

The adjacent Robinson Barracks remains open as a housing area for US military personnel.
