Lake Hillabee

At least at one time, the area near the dam was a popular swimming spot in the summer. Named, presumably, from the Creek indian town, not at this site. During the War of 1812, White's brigade of Cocke's army destroyed the village of Hillabee while its chief was away conferring with Jackson.
