The Palácio da Alvorada (English: Palace of Dawn) is the official residence of the President of Brazil. The palace was designed, along with the rest of the city of Brasília, by Oscar Niemeyer and inaugurated in 1958. Its construction started in April 3, 1957.

The name comes from the quote of Juscelino Kubitschek: "Brasília is a new dawn in the History of Brazil."

  • The Portuguese is poor and gramatically very wrong (perhaps indicative of the voters that elected Lula), and the political statement completely out of line. It should be remarked that the Alvorada Palace is not Lula's house, but rather the official residence of the President of Brazil - whoever he/she happens to be.
