Surb Astvatzatzni Metz Anapat was Armenian monastic complex near the northern half of town of Agulis. In Armenian language: Սուրբ Աստվածածնի Մեծ Անապատ, means: Great Cloister of the Holy Virgin. Also known as Astvatzatun (Armenian: Աստվածատուն). Azerbaijani villagers knew it in 1970-80th as "Istazin kilise", Istazin is an Turkic transcription of the name of Astvatzatun that in Armenian language means "God's Home". After the unknown date after the Armenian massacres (1988) in Nakhichevan province of Soviet Azerbaijan this monastery was blown up in 1990th using Azerbaijani army.
