US Route 66 and US Route 491 formerly known as Highway 666 intersect here.

Fun fact, the US Department of Transportation changed Highway 666 to 491 because of the "evil" associated with the number 666.

  • Considering that I had to step over two drunks for each block I walked to the gym when I lived here I believe the title. Even the Karate studio in town was semi-fortified. I used their weight equipment. The advanced class would go to the bar downstairs, wait for a fight to break out, then get in some live practice. The Sensei told me it developed their sense of where each other would be if they ever got into a real fight.
  • Driving back from 29 Palms, CA to Camp Lejeune, NC after a graduating a military school Friday, October 12th, my vehicle died on my as I entered this intersection. A fellow Sergeant, Chris Smith was with me as the Bronco II coasted to a stop on the shoulder. It would not turn on again. It had just crossed into midnight and, of course there was a full moon out(the blood moon). We were at a loss on what to do next. In the distance, there was a well lit house. We realized it was turned into a restaurant. Being Friday night/Saturday morning, it was still open and we went in to have a meal. Very enjoyable, we were treated very well & we were respectful & courteous; we finished our meal and returned to the vehicle. It started up on the first try & we continued to North Carolina.
  • I'm sorry, i should of added the year was 2000.
