An agricultural and selective, co-educational, public high school in Carlingford. The school was founded as a comprehensive high school in 1958, but was changed into an agricultural high school a year later. James Ruse was an all boys school until 1977, at which time the school began admitting girls.
Due to its tough entrance examination, it is the top academic school in New South Wales.
