Since the late 1880s, he lived in an urban manor Sergei Witte - Chief Operating Office of the South-Western Railway, one of the prominent ministers of the Russian Empire. It was he who made the introduction of the "gold standard" (the basic unit of calculation is a standardized amount of gold).
