“Thuto” is a Sepedi/Sesotho/Tswana word that means “education” or “learning”. The double-level Thuto Building lecture hall complex features four 600-seat lecture halls was officially opened in April 2012. The building was designed by Jeremie Malan Architects. Art students added unique finishing touches inter alia by transforming eleven trees removed for the construction into sculptures. The seven best sculptures were placed along the main pedestrian routes.
