For over a century trains drew into the city on this spot. Next to the tracks there were broad strips of grassland, the remnants of bleaching fields. When the station was moved, this site was given a new purpose and a park was created after the Second World War. A green entrance to the city, which acknowledged the need for urban green areas and the importance of tourism for the city.
