The Balikpapan Class LCH (Landing Craft, Heavy) are a class of three vessels operated by the Royal Australian Navy in the Amphibious Warfare role. Originally a class of twelve vessels, the force was split operationally between the RAN, Royal Australian Army and the Papua New Guinea Defense Force (PNGDF) in the mid-1970's to better suit operational capabilities of the force.
