The old Thunder Bay Port Arthur Ore Dock, built in 1944. It closed down in the late 1970s, around the time the Steep Rock iron mines in Atikokan closed as well. Now landlocked on the north side, this side of the dock was once open to the water which allowed ships to load on both sides. Though only the stripped down concrete behemoth, there are plans to breath new life into the old dock & structure, to once again load iron ore from Canadian mines into the holds of waiting ships.
