Cruden Bay

United Kingdom / Scotland / Cruden Bay /

Nearby Slains Castle was the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula, There is a well-known golf course and many popular hotels. Most of the fishing village was donated by the Earl of Errol.
Although there is little evidence of its presence other than a small complex a few miles south of the village, the sands at Cruden Bay is the place where the 110-mile long pipeline operated by British Petroleum, in use from 1975, comes ashore. It pumps crude oil from the Forties oilfield to Port Errol, then onward by overland pipeline to Grangemouth.

  • Perhaps my favorite course in all of Scotland. The castle ruins are visible from almost everywhere on the course.
