In the middle of the 19th century Gong Wang Fu Garden belonged to Prince Gong, the brother of Emperor Xian Feng and the brother-in-law to the Empress Dowager Cixi. The Prince was a talented artist particularly in the arts of gardening and poetry thus this garden is a poetic experience. Visitors can follow winding paths through the garden to view the pagodas and buildings from a variety of angles. Little streams, stone hills, and corridors rising along a mound create a tranquil atmosphere. Visitors may also go angling beside the central pool.
