Puspiptek founded in 1976 on the idea of the Minister of Research of the Republic of Indonesia, at that time, namely Prof.Dr.Sumitro Djojohadikusomo and implementation realized by the State Minister for Research and Technology Prof. Dr.-Ing. B.J. Habibie. With the aim to support the process of industrialization in Indonesia then Puspiptek designed to be an area that synergize educated and trained human resources, equipment research and technical service of the most complete in Indonesia as well as technology and expertise yanq has accumulated during more than a quarter century.

At this time, Puspiptek is the largest science and techno park in Indonesia.
