  At the end of 1949 and early 50 a place for Dutch landingcraft to embark military personnel and civilians as well as material. Later called Pasar Ikan, as on this small beach in front of Toko Makassar villagers of the nearby islands would mainly sell their catch.

  Until the 70's the market called "Pasar Jaya" still serve its function. The market was later torn down and a park was established to beutify the city.
