Monchegorsk had bad timing with getting its bronze Lenin. Until the early 1980s, the city
did not have a Lenin at all: the Five Corners Square in the old city center was graced by a bronze moose, and this square (Revolution Sq? I don't recall its name) had a statue of a mine
worker (or a geologist maybe). By the time the Communist city fathers decided that they need a Lenin
after all, and put him here (having moved the worker to the west edge of the city), the Communist era was almost over...
