On the morning of August 14th, 2013, Airbus A300F-622R N155UP operating as UPS Flight 1354 from Louisville to Birmingham crashed at this location while on approach for landing. The aircraft struck several trees before impacting an upslope roughly 1/2 mile from the threshold of runway 18, breaking into several pieces and catching fire.

Though the forward section of the aircraft and cockpit separated from the burining midsection, both crew were found deceased roughly 100 yards away from the wreckage.
