Far from the downtown, on the other shore of the river, there is the Monument to the First Printing Press (Monumento a la Primera Imprenta). Typography appeared in Ambato in the middle of XVIII century, and in 1835, the first newspaper was published. The monument is located on the slope of the hill, from where one can get nice view on the city.
